These are just random selections of movies (for me) which are really creepy. Aside of course from Exorcist (which is not on the list – I don’t know why). I checked the majority of the Top 10 Haunted House Films there is in the Hollywood and these is what I found. What’s your scary movie that I missed out to put?
10. The Amityville Horror (1979)
Newlyweds move into a house where a murder was committed, and experience strange manifestations which drive them away. 
9. The Grudge (2004)
An American nurse living and working in Tokyo is exposed to a mysterious supernatural curse, one that locks a person in a powerful rage before claiming their life and spreading to another victim. 
8. The Changeling (1980)
A man staying at a secluded historical mansion, finds his life being haunted by the presence of a spectre. 
7. Beetle Juice (1988)
A couple of recently deceased ghosts contract the services of a “bio-exorcist” in order to remove the obnoxious new owners of their house. 
6. The Haunting (1999)
When Eleanor, Theo, and Luke decide to take part in a sleep study at a huge mansion they get more than they bargained for when Dr. Marrow tells them of the house’s ghostly past.
5. The Others (2001)
A woman who lives in a darkened old house with her two photosensitive children becomes convinced that her family home is haunted. 
4. The Orphanage (2007)
A woman brings her family back to her childhood home, where she opens an orphanage for handicapped children. Before long, her son starts to communicate with an invisible new friend. 
3. Poltergeist (1986)
The Freeling family have a new house, but their troubles with supernatural forces don’t seem to be over. 
2. The Shining (1980)
A family heads to an isolated hotel for the winter where an evil and spiritual presence influences the father into violence, while his psychic son sees horrific forebodings from the past and of the future. 
1. The Exorcism of Emily Rose (2005)
A lawyer takes on a negligent homicide case involving a priest who performed an exorcism on a young girl. 
#1 is the number 1 for me. Until now, every time I see this movie, it’s a must to turn the lamp shade on the whole day. Funny but true.
